Professor Noah Yusuf, the Director of the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies, University of Ilorin is a Professor of Industrial Sociology and Peace and Security Management in the Department of Sociology, University of Ilorin. He obtained the B.Sc (Hons), M.Sc. and Ph.D degrees in Sociology all from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. His area of specialization include Industrial Sociology, Peace and Security Management, Industrial relations and Worker participation studies. He joined the service of the University of Ilorin on 3rd March, 1992 as an Assistant Lecturer and rose to the rank of Professor in October, 2012.
He has participated in several academic and national assignments among which are Kwara State Project Co-ordinator, National Survey on Child and Maternal Health, sponsored by United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Abuja, Nigeria. August – November, 2008; Co-ordinator, Survey on Institutional Linkage Programme between Nigeria and US/Canadian Universities conducted by Health Reform Foundation of Nigeria. June – September, 2012; Sociologist Co-ordinator, Ocular Morbidity Survey in Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State, Nigeria sponsored by Eye Savers International United Kingdom. March – May, 2012.
Professor Yusuf was at different time, Editor-in-Chief of Ilorin Journal of Sociology, Ilorin Journal of Business and Social Sciences, Lapai Sociological Review and Osun Sociological Review. Currently, he is the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Peace, Security and Development. He was a former Editorial Board member of The Herald newspaper.
He has participated severally as team leader and member of National University Commission (NUC) accreditation exercise in several Universities across the country. He is also engaged in professorial assessment of academic staff in prominent Universities in Nigeria. To date he has successfully supervised two (2) Ph.D. candidates and more than sixty (60) Masters degree candidates in the Department of Sociology.
Professor Yusuf belongs to prominent national and international professional associations. He is a member of Nigerian Anthropological and Sociological Association (NASA); Member, Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), Member, Nigerian Industrial Relations Association (NIRA) and the American Sociological Association (ASA).
He delivered the 151st Inaugural lecture of the University of Ilorin on 30th October, 2014 titled: Man, Industry and Society: The Synergy that Mirrors the Reality of our Everyday Existence. He has to his credit over 50 publications in recognized journals and textbooks spread across home-based, national and international outlets. He was appointed as the Director, Centre for peace and Strategic Studies, University of Ilorin, on 6th November, 2017, by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sulyman Age Abdulkareem.
